How is the course at UFC?

The Telecommunications Engineering course initiates with its first group of undergraduate students in 2015 and currently offers 60 positions/year. The course load is of 3,600 hours, distributed along 10 semesters. The course is held on the day period and is part of the Center of Technology in the Pici Campus.

Telecommunications Engineer

At the end of the course, the Telecommunications Engineer will count with a solid technical, scientific, and professional formation and will possess competences to audit telecommunications systems and networks; to plan, conceive, specify, design and implement wired and wireless telecommunications equipment, systems, and networks; perform inspections and compliance testing on telecommunications equipment and systems; perform research and participate as an active agent in the development of new technologies.

Study topics

The technical formation in Telecommunications Engineering is divided into 05 contents’ cores: basic, professional, specific, practice activities, and free courses. The student will dive into areas, such as: mobile communications, optical networks, digital TV, statistical signal processing, radio communication systems, and satellite communications.

Professional area/job market

In face of the continuous evolutionq that is experienced by the telecommunication systems, with an active and expanding market, the job areas for the Telecommunications Engineers are multiple and present in the structure of public and private, civil and military, academic and industrial systems, with unlimited social and personal reach.

As job areas, one can mention the companies and sector associated with: analog and digital audio and video broadcasting; open and cable television; Internet; industry of service provision, of basis and of transformation, of audio, vídeo, image and text applications in general; broadband networks; digital data communications; telecommunications industry; information and communications technology industry; fixed, mobile and satellite telephony; multimedia communications; installation, operation, and maintenance of electric, electronic, magnetic and optical equipment; structured cabling and fiber optical systems.
