GTEL professors publish Mobile Cellular Communications book

Published at: April 4, 2018 Category: News

Professors of the Telecommunications Engineering course publish book on mobile communications

Published in Abril 2018, the book “Comunicação móvel celular” (Editora Elsevier, 376 pages, R$ 179,91), authored by professors Rodrigo Cavalcanti, Tarcisio Maciel, Walter Freitas Jr and Yuri Silva, is a contribution of the Wireless Telecommunications Research Group (GTEL), of the Federal University of Ceará, to the teaching in telecommunications engineering and related areas.

“It expresses the integrated and systemic view we have in GTEL about the cellular mobile technologies, which is anchored to years of research, direct and indirect interaction with the industry and the market”, comments Prof. Rodrigo about the book.

According to Prof. Rodrigo, the authors took into consideration that the undergraduate student will have contact with the theme for the first time. “Therefore, the book is filled with examples and case studies that allow for a practical view of the theme, linking theory and practice, and providing a less abstract perception of the main concepts”.

The book presents information about history and evolution of cellular mobile technology from 1G to 5G; GSM, HSPA and LTE systems; antennas and propagation of electromagnetic waves and their biological effects;  fundamentals of network planning; multi-carrier and multi-antenna transmission; business and regulatory aspects; and management of the frequency spectrum.

WHERE TO BUY ‒ The book is already available for sale at bookstores.
