Prof. Charles Casimiro, from DETI, is nominated for the IEEE Signal Processing Society Board of Governors
Published at: October 22, 2019 Category: UnclassifiedProf. Charles Casimiro Cavalcante, of the Teleinformatics Engineering Department (DETI) of the Federal University of Ceará, was nominated to serve at the board of governors of the Signal Processing Society (SPS) from Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The SPS is the fourth largest society within IEEE and counts with about 19 thousand members, among the 400 thousand ones from 100 countries. The global headquarter of the institute is located in New Jersey (USA). The professor works in Telecommunications Engineering course and will assume the position of Regional Director-at-Large for Regions 7 & 9, which correspond to Latin America countries and Canada. His term goes from 01/01/2020 until 12/31/2021. Among the attributions of the position are promoting technical connections, organize events in the regions, foment the signal processing area, articulate the local chapters, and represent the regions in IEEE committees.
